Arizona is one of the best places in the country for homeowners to benefit from solar energy systems. With an average of 300 or more sunshine-filled days per year, Lake Havasu City residents can generate even more power than they may expect.
Luckily, there’s a way to capture that excess power and store it for later: solar battery storage. Havasu Solar has 20+ years of experience with solar installation, and we’re excited to offer battery storage solutions that exceed your expectations.

Why Install a Home Solar Battery?
While an array of solar panels is the first step to energy independence, there’s only so much it can do without a battery storage solution. Your panels will only produce energy during the day, meaning you’ll still have to rely on the grid for electricity at night. This doesn’t seem like a big deal during long summer days, but you’ll notice the difference in your bills during winter and cloudy days.
With a solar battery, any excess energy you generate beyond what powers your home can be saved for later — such as to keep your home running in the event of a planned or surprise power outage that stretches into the night. Knowing you’ll have backup power to use at your discretion goes a long way toward peace of mind.
How Do Solar Batteries Work?
There are direct current (DC) coupled systems and alternating current (AC) coupled systems. At the beginning of the process for a DC-coupled system, your solar panels convert sunlight into DC electricity, which transfers to the battery for storage. When needed, an inverter changes the DC electricity to the AC electricity that powers your appliances and devices.
The AC-coupled process is more complex. It passes the electricity through the inverter to convert it to AC power before it enters the home, and the power moves from your home to the battery and once again when it’s transferred back for use.
The complexity provides the advantage of being able to charge the battery from the photovoltaic (PV) panels and the grid. That means there’s never any chance of running out of power or only having the battery partially full.
